Cornish Gardening Highlights for August

Surreal Succulents have recreated their award winning display from the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show 2018.

Throughout August their silver-gilt winning creation will be on show at their shop adjacent to Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens. So why not combine a day out to both? Succulents, Aloes, Palms, carnivorous plants, Aeoniums, Echeveria and many more are also available to buy.

The hot garden should be in full glory this month, with its vibrant colour combinations on sun-seared slopes. Enjoy the drifts of ornamental grasses, cannas, rubeckias and proteas.

But, if the sun becomes too intense, there are also plenty of other areas of the estate in which to take shade and cool down, including three magnificent lakes.

This small garden is a joy and just the escape a gardener will delight in if they are in the Fowey area and want to get away from busier tourist haunts in August. Plus an award winning nursery is sure to tempt you to buy one or two things to take home.

There’s always something of interest at Eden, but we particularly love the colours and vibrancy of the summer blooms. In the Eden Outdoor Gardens, the prairie is alight with colour and the Dahlias are a sight to behold.

Red-hot pokers, Kniphofia, are on display in the Bright Sparks area, in a myriad of exotic colours. In the Global Gardens you can find chillies in abundance, along with lemongrass, fig leaf gourds and Amaranthus ‘Kerala Red’.

There’s a newly opened Orchid pergola in the rainforest biome.  And in the Mediterranean area, check out the amazing tomatoes and sunflower displays.
